Highly prized luxurious fabric.  Produced from Cashmere goats, quality determined by length, width and amount of crimping to fibre.  Most Cashmere goats are white, although black, grey and brown animals also appear in herds.   The very best cashmere comes from colder climates e.g. Nepal, Tibet, Mongolia, Bhutan, Myanmar.  Quality cashmere - always smooth, silky, with the longest hair woven to give a fairly flat, non fluffy finish, therefore the finer the quality, basically the smoother and lighter the pashmina should be - furthermore a cashmere pashmina should never be bulky, not to mention thick or heavy - quite the contrary!
Merino wool
Merino sheep come from New Zealand & Australian highlands.  When long crimped fibres woven together making long lasting fabric.  Merino wool breathes, creating warmth in cold weather, then cool in hot weather, not to mention natural stretch and a non itchy finish.
Pure silk
Fibres are produced by silkworms as they spin themselves a cocoon to transform into a silkmoth.  Silk absorbs rich vibrant dyes very well, absolutely perfect for creating fine lightweight garments in endless beautiful bold colours.  Without a doubt the best silks and the biggest suppliers of pure silk are China and India, with India also being renowned for producing the most popular and hardwearing Mulberry silk used in much of their garment production.
Benefits of blending natural fabrics
Cashmere with wool
Great affordability. Another key point is the softness and lightness of cashmere.  Flexibility warmth breathability and strength of wool.
Blending wool or cashmere with pure silk
Gives a smooth sheen finish, with strength, warmth and fabulous absorbency of colour.  Particularly well priced and affordable.
